Our new beach friend
Nan found this baby turtle in the driveway of the shore house on Memorial Day weekend. The kids loved him and of course wanted to keep him. Aunt Sue discovered it is illegal to capture box turtles- not that I was really consdering keeping him. However their joy over this little guy has me contemplating some sort of aquarium animal (fish, turtle, hermit crab). Something very small that will not die if we leave it alone for a day or so.

We are so blessed to live within walking distance of Brookside Gardens. These gardens are part of Wheaton Regional Park which is a massive expanse of protected land in Silver Spring. It is an amazing gift to have this land so near to DC. Every time we walk through the park or the gardens we experience new wildlife. We are always seeing deer, turtles, ducks, and geese, not to mention butterflies, bugs and birds of all kinds. The spring is amazing over at Brookside- new flowers and new baby animals everywhere. We love watching the geese nest and then returning a few weeks later to see the babies swimming along behind their parents. These pictures are from a recent walk with our good friends the Healy’s. (For some odd reason Brendan and their baby Anna are not in any pictures- sorry!)
